I'm going to agree with the lawyer in the video. It might be a stretch to sell to a jury that the security guard and wife weren't in danger. Perhaps there is some extra video we aren't seeing that shows this that wasn't released. The one thing I'm not understanding is that the vid states that two cars and a tree were hit. I'm not seeing how this could have happened unless the female was already running away since there seemed to be a straight line of sight from the car to the building. As a rule, if the bad guy has his back to you and is running away, its best to let them go. The gun being plastic is immaterial.
The 1985 SCOTUS ruling Tennessee v. Garner needs to be applied in all cases where a Second Amendment Hero uses Deadly Force (Whenever you fire a gun its' deadly force there are no warning shots) against a person who did not commit a forcible felony.
It's not clear at what point the shots were being fired. But pointing a gun at someone while committing a crime--even if that gun turns out to be a fake--is a sign of dangerous intentions.
It's clear to anyone who looks, he was shooting at her while she was running away. Maybe you should check out the enlarged version, for older people who have a hard time seeing.
The video does not show the man shooting. It shows him getting out of his truck with his gun at his side (expressly not shooting at the fleeing suspects at that time). He could have been shooting at her while fleeing earlier or he could have been shooting at her while she was pointing her gun at his wife- but the video does not show it.
"It's clear to anyone who looks, he was shooting at her while she was running away."
The first time we see him is as 1:06 of the enlarged video, and the gun is not being fired, and it is being pointed down at the ground. What minute mark are you looking at?
I suspect that the "pointing a gun at my wife" was a lying justification that he came up with after realizing he'd fucked up. That's just natural. After getting caught in the wrong, anyone would want to come up with a creative justification for what they did.
Mike often likes to point out what has become his stereotype of a gun owner, namely a fat/overweight white guy. What exactly would you call behavior or beliefs based on a person's race? This doesn't seem to always apply though in the Detroit metro area, where the majority of permit holders are African-American and the majority of those who make use of their stand your ground law are also African-American. http://www.detroitnews.com/article/20140109/OPINION01/301090011/Gun-debate-misses-mark-Detroit
Hey! Give credit where credit is due! I pioneered the stereotype -- so VERY OFTEN TRUE - of the gun obsessed: old, white, flabby and crabby -- and with poor judgment.
It is NOT MikeB's stereotype, it is mine -- and it fits. It fits here, and it also fits the overwhelming majority of gun nuts who attend the NRA convention. It is a surprisingly useful stereotype, with greater validity than the one you offered.
So says the stereotypical radical, bra burning feminist who hates any man because of some perceived hurt received in her youth, probably spurned at the high school prom.
Then Dog Gone, surely you'll have no objection to posting a picture of yourself so we can be sure that you're not old, white, or flabby. Crabby is already an established characteristic of yours.
You keep up your idiot hillbilly was, liar. Keep graduating the worst students in the nation, failed, idiot teacher. Keep lying you cowardly ass hole. Answer Steve's questions you cowardly piece of shit.

I think you and I both see what we want to see in these incidents. I saw a trigger happy guy who proved his incapacity to own and use guns safely.
DeleteTypical gun-obsessed NRA-archtype: old, white, flabby and crabby --- and a menace to the rest of us.
DeleteGreg is an old flabby white guy
DeleteI'm forty-one, so middle-aged is more accurate there. I'm not flabby. Oh, but I am white. I guess one out of three ain't bad.
DeleteYour picture shows you are a fat guy. Better put up a fake picture to fit your lies.
DeleteAnonymous, when you tell lies, you shouldn't make them so easy to disprove.
DeleteLike most fat people you deny you are fat.
DeleteIt's a typical denial delusion.
Just like you deny your own words, the picture is there for all to see.
The site lying coward is fat and I'll add ugly. It's easy to tell he is crabby, just read his comments on this blog.

ReplyDeleteAnd the 2nd Amendment Hero needs to be charged.
Yes.
DeleteThanks Mike, admire your tenacity keep it up!

This fat old white asshole is no hero; he's a menace to public safety.
DeleteTypical Dog Gone--when she's proved wrong, she moves the goal posts and declares herself the winner.

DeleteMikeb, you suspect that, because that's your narrative, but that doesn't make it so.
DeleteObviously the crook was running away, while the guy was shooting at her. Seems the point of being in immediate danger was not present.
ReplyDeleteMikeb, your bigotry is showing again.
ReplyDeleteThere goes the site lying coward again.
DeleteWhat bigotry?
Mike made no bigoted comment.
Please prove your lies.
Ass hole criminal lying coward.

DeleteActually, Dog Gone, the stereotype predates your catchy phrase. Old Fat White Man has been around for a long time. I do like your version though.
Deletelets see your picture Greg, I'll bet you look like the hillbilly you are.

By the way, what I posted here is what I mean by a URL.
I know what A URL is, and you do look like a criminal, lying, cowardly hillbilly.
