Braveheart Freedom Speech

  1. I don't understand why Mikeb would post a video about freedom and liberty since he seems so opposed to such things and is a statist through and through.

  2. I assume mikeb likes this movie because the government kills the person who was uppity enough to talk about freedom without the goverment's position. I am not sure Mike understands that the real point of the movie :p

    1. ugh - lots of typos... that should have been "without the government's permission"

  3. I thought this was a great movie. But, unlike you guys, I realize it is just that, a movie. For you guys it's much more.

You mentally ill gun owners flip-flop between two very bizarre and unlikely fantasies. In one, you band together and heroically fight off the tyrannical government successfully. In the other, you band together and heroically fight the tyrannical government but go down fighting.

The first one is called grandiose megalomania and the second grandiose victimism.

This what adolescent boys do about the school yard bully. Grow up, will ya?

    1. Grow up? You mean, stop seeing reality? Stop recognizing that there are threats in this world? Stop insisting that rights are rights?

You're the child here, Mikeb. You want Nanny Government to float in with her umbrella and give you a spoonful of sugar with your gun control. You're the bully here, desperate to get the rest of us to comply with your wishes.

  4. Your scenario sounds more like the US after Vietnam, or Iraq, or Afghanistan, or Syria, or Libya, or.... Hey, how's that Libya thing going?
I wonder if Hillary is still laughing?

  5. Still another example of the reason I dont believe Mike is anti gun.

Hey Mike, Still waiting on the answer of why you being in Italy are worried about the gun rights here in the U.S.of A..

    1. Nah, I'm tired of answering that one. Suffice it to say that I am.

    2. Mike, I think you are hiding something. Like Obama, you refuse to answer a question that shouldnt present any harm to you if you were not hiding something.

Suffice it to say, you have no say in the affairs of this country and your concerns then should be unfounded. I can see Dog Gone have a legitiment voice since she is a resident here. Laci, on the other hand is like you, no voice of concern. Democommie??

Are you afraid that freedom and liberty will spread to the UK? Italy included?

    3. Who are you to decide who has a legitimate voice? That's what I object to, your attempt to dictate terms.

    4. We just don't like outsiders trying to dictate our rights. You choose not to live here, and that's fine, but it means that you'll won't have to suffer the consequences of the laws that you propose.

  6. Who am I, Mike? A United States citizen that happens to reside here. A citizen that is subject to all laws and regulations made SOLELY by other United States citizens we choose to elect to represent us. Our laws and regulation are NOT subject to non citizens from other countries to decide.

I haven't dictated any terms what so ever. You, on the other hand attempt to do so all the time. But if anyone has the right to, its me and every citizen of these United States that reside here.

You have given up that right by choosing to live in another country. You absolutely NO LONGER have ANY SAY in the workings of this country. You can have your opinion, but thats it, nothing else. Since you are closed to explaining yourself, as far as I am concerned, you opinion has no value either.

I have on several occasions asked form a meaningful dialog, you refuse and offer dictates instead. I asked for explanations for you opinions while insulated from any of the repercussions. You refuse to answer.

So dont get all indignant, your on the wrong side of the pond to ask who I am!

I say again. Who the hell are you to make that determination? Are you in charge of what people say and who can say what? Doesn't a statement like the one I quoted above make you guilty of all the things you keep complaining about with regards rights?

    2. I told who I am, an American United States citizen. I never said that I am in charge of anything pertaining to who can say what. I did state that the people of this country does have a say, not non citizens, in the workings of this country. Simple fact.

I also said that you have your opinions, and thats fine. But your proposals of law has no weight here. You cant vote here, you cant submit proposals to be considered by the courts or politicians for consideration of law changes or enforcements.

You cant change the force of law here and rights are not subject to any change short of amendments to the constitution. Freedom of speech is protected by the bill of rights that are for the United States citizen, it doesn't protect those birth rights, the Bill of Rights, for others outside the United States the bill of rights do not extend to them.

Do you realize than in the light of the events of last week, the embassies being attacked around the world that other countries are now calling for more internet control, censure and cut off? Do you realize this can happen quickly? Where is the "freedom of speech" then? There isn't any outside our borders!

You want to change things here? Then move back here! Regain your citizenship and have a working word here. Work to change the laws here as I am doing. It takes money, lots of it, but at the minimum you can vote for differences. But sitting in Italy, you have nothing that effects anything here. All you can get is your opinions expressed. And you can explain yourself to have validity to your opinion.

I am still waiting for that explanation.

Move back here, get established and I will buy you a beer or two. I don't drink it, but I will buy it!

    3. Where did you get the idea that I'm not a citizen? It sounds like you're making a lot of guesses about me and basing some strong statements on those guesses.

    4. Are you a citizen? Living in Italy precludes any usful citizenship in the US if you are not living here.

But isnt that the same thing that you do about me? Guessing? The same thing you do about what CHL holders?

I can only guess without an explanation from you. Thats why I have been asking. I dont like to guess, show me instead.

    5. "Living in Italy precludes any usful citizenship in the US if you are not living here. "

What? I don't know how to respond to that? This goes beyond guessing, this is you proclaiming policy that you're not qualified to talk about.

  7. Are you sure I am not qualified? Are you guessing again Mike? And you didnt answer the question either. Are you a citizen?

    1. Qualified to make this determination, "Living in Italy precludes any usful citizenship in the US if you are not living here?"

Are you the one who determines what precludes useful citizenship, whatever that means?

  8. Your still guessing and not answering the question, are you a citizen?

    1. All right, I'll tell you how it works. I was born and raised in The States. When I was 36 I moved here. I'm 59 now. After deciding to stay, I discovered I was entitled to dual citizenship because my grandfather had been born here. I got that ogranized and now hold two passports.

Nevertheless, I am American through and through, not an Italian in any sense other than legal. Not only do I enjoy all the rights of US citizenship, in my head I think like an American, not an Italian. I'm interested in American things not Italian, especially politics.

Except for my immediate family, wife and three kids, the rest of my relatives are all in The States. I wouldn't raise kids there, but there is a good chance that after they're grown they'll choose to go there for college or work, which I would encourage. I myself may very well move back at that point.

None of this has to do with much of what we were bickering about. I have a right to say anything I like, especially on my own blog. I'm entitled to have any opinions I like. You are not in a position to say otherwise. If you think something in my personal situation renders my opinions on gun politics in the US less valid, I strongly disagree.

    2. Thank you for your honesty and your reply. Al tho you do not know what my positions are. And like I said, if or when you do decide to move back I will buy the beer, or what ever you like, I just don't drink the stuff.

I appreciate the explanations and gives me a better understanding of where your opinions come from. And I still think your wrong on a lot of them but lets boil them down now and get to the real workable points, OK?

    3. Sorry for playing hard to get for so long. It's just that I've been through that with others before you and I really don't see that it matters to our discussion.
