  1. All the gory details about a step modification to the top of a ladder? I am not sure what your point in posting this was. Do you complain that fishermen sit in boats and use large nets to catch fish? Do you complain that farmers ride around in large tractors to harvest their crops?

    1. Well, I'm not into the rights of crops to not be harvested, but hunting and fishing for live animals is sick in my opinion.

  2. And of course pretty much every politician who advocates for stricter gun control always seems to preface that advocacy by saying they're a hunter, or would never want to interfere with citizens being able to hunt.
One of our former governors, Jesse Ventura prior to his taking office was a talk radio host on a local station made me chuckle when he said that if he could, he would make it a requirement for bear hunters to shoot at their quarry from the ground so if they were to miss, then the bear would get his chance.

    1. Good one from Jesse. About the politicians though, of course they give lip service to the hunters just like they always say they support the 2A, but... I don't put much value in anything they say.

  3. There are actually a couple of aspects of shooting from a stand that make hunting safer. The firs is that being above most ground foliage give you a better view and therefor less likely to shoot at a person by mistake. The second is that by shooting from above, bullets that either go through the animal or miss it entirely will be assured of going into the ground pretty quickly.

  4. Jeeze. Must be a slow day. Hunting from tree stands and tree blinds has been utilized for, I dunno, 200+ years?!? Now its a problem? Get a life man, you are seriously lacking one.

  5. The first and only time I saw hunting stands, it was in Germany in April of 1977. It could not have been the hunting season. They are probably all broken down by now. Of course, there was a time when hunting meant putting food on the table. Except for poachers who kill apes, monkeys and other wildlife including tigers to sell to the lucrative bushmeat market or those who kill rhinoceroses and elephants for other reasons, this is no longer true. There wasn't any judgment about whether or not a particular type of hunting was fair or sportsmanlike. Given the amount of money today's American leisure class spends on their guns and ammo, it's more about having fun or perhaps keeping Grandfather's traditions alive than any success in hunting.

If you would like to point up the ridiculous, just do an article on modern turkey hunting.

  6. True story:
One guy is using someone elses tree stand. The guy comes along and expresses he does not want him using his tree stand. An argument ensues. The guy in the tree stand calls his buddies over, one thing leads to another, and 5 guys end up dead. Gun loons kill over a tree stand.
