California Gun Laws at Work

Mercury News reports on another example of how the California gun laws, in this case the waiting period, work to keep guns out of the hands of dangerous people.

The amazing thing is our gun-rights friends would have a guy like this buying a gun and taking it home immediately.  The only reason for wanting that is so they themselves would not have to accept the inconvenience of waiting.

What do you think?  Please leave a comment.

  1. I don't know if the waiting period stopped him. It sounded like he didn't fill out any of the paperwork or complete the background check to even get to the waiting period part.

  3. Story has little to do with waiting periods, everything to do with paperwork with regards to the background check.

And its in Watsonville. I wonder if the man is able to read the form. Unable read the form or answer questions; too embarrassed to ask the clerk for help. Probably only reads in Spanish but the form is racist; only available in English. Probably what sent him into a rage.

Without the required background check paperwork, the man probably would have bought his gun and gone home. Were he suicidal, he would have ended his life in the privacy of his own home. Instead, he snapped creating a scene and almost killing others. Still got himself dead.

  5. Thanks AztecRed, I knew we'd get there one day.

I thought the guy in the story was put out by the waiting period and for that reason left the shop.

  6. ""It was all really surreal. Is this really happening?" she said as she lit a cigarette and talked to a couple reporters."

Hmm lighting up a cigarette? Maybe she doesn't value her life that much after all.
