The Number One Problem in Politics According to Cenk Uygur

11 comments:

  1. Uygur is passing responsibility. Voters are solely responsible for who gets into office. The problem is that we've allowed voters not to inform themselves on the candidates. Anyone with a library card or a home Internet connection has access to information on anyone running for office. In our present age, money shouldn't mean anything to voters who know what they're doing. Quit passing the buck here.

  2. Fuck that!

I see - money has no influence in elections.

Seriously how goddamn stupid are you!

    1. Why is it that you and Mikeb and others on your side resort to that level of discourse so often? Could it be that you have no good reason for being against what I said?

One Fly, read what I said carefully. Years ago, money was everything. In these days, information and ideas are available to any voter who takes the time to learn them--in other words, to be a responsible voter. All the money spent on ads is irrelevant to the responsible voter. And if a candidate gets into office and then sells out, that person can just as easily be rejected in the next election.

    2. Greg's comment was stupid. He just hates Cenk.

    3. You've seen me approve of some of his ideas. On the subject of guns, he's completely wrong. On other matters, I'll wait for him to have his say.

But I note that neither one of you addressed my point. One Fly cursed, and you toss out schoolyard taunts. And you keep saying that I'm the one with weak arguments...

  3. Hmmm...I don't see the Liberals complaining about the supposed Billion dollar campaign chest Obama supposedly has. But you're right, money has everything to do with who gets elected and who doesn't. (Only if you're a low/no information voter or an idiot.)

    1. You're trying to invent hypocrisy. Cenk was talking about corporations.

  6. By the title I thought Mike was calling Cenk “the number one problem in politics”- but no, it’s money.
Money is used to influence the uniformed voter. So is the bigger problem too much money, or too many uniformed voters? That said, it is sickening how much money is being spent on these two campaigns. Money is important in politics to inform voters what is going to be voted on in an upcoming election (so obscure measures absolutely need money behind it to pass), but the higher profile the election, the less money matters. Yet the higher profile, the more the people throw away their money in donations.
