Bill Maher at his Most Eloquent on Gun Control

  1. What a smug bunch of arrogant elitists. Maher is getting more and more wacko by the day. I don't know the Dr. Drew fellow, but he looks just as bad.

  2. It is interesting how race gets defined in different situations. In this incident, Zimmerman is white. In other cases, he'd be Hispanic. Of course, in the absence of evidence, any conclusion can be asserted. Do we have any evidence to support the idea that Zimmerman did what he did because Martin was black? But the dominant narrative is a beautiful theory, and people like Maher won't let an ugly fact deter him from telling it.

    1. Greg, are you denying the kid's appearance and dress had something to do with it? Geraldo blamed the clothing itself, which is pretty stupid. I think it's fair to blame the Hispanic guy, acting like a white guy with a gun, who jumped to the wrong conclusion about the kid and decided to get out of his car.

    4. Mikeb, I don't know what "acting like a white guy with a gun" means. I'm not trying to be difficult. I just don't see any fundamental connection between a person's skin color and that person owning or not owning a gun.

The key point here is that none of us was on the scene to witness what happened. The story isn't clear, but too many have made up their minds. At this point, if Zimmerman gets charged, I don't see how he could get a fair trial. Instant communication has its value, but the rush to judgement isn't it.

    5. It was a joke referring to the widely held stereotype of fat white man. Stereotypes like that don't happen for no reason, just look at the gun videos or check out the NRA convention.

  3. This is certainly a more important topic than a white, gun toting, representative of the US government killing 16 or 17 innocent brown women and children.
My suggestion? Pay the kid's mourning family 50k, tell them to shut-up and go away. Why in the hell should that Martin kid's life be anymore valuable, important or newsworthy.

No more than the evidence we have that suggests that Martin actually attacked Zimmerman. Otoh, we do have one sortawhite guy who right to "protect" himself led to one black teenager receiving a fatal gunshot wound, one dead black teenager who cannot defend himself, ever.

  5. Agreed, Maher is at his most eloquent when he is not calling women “twats”.

    1. Well, I guess you're just taking a shot at him. I often find his humor too sarcastic and nasty, but in this video his seriousness and straight-talk seemed refreshing.

  6. Dr. Drew seems to be the same sort of "Dr." as Dr. Phil, a pompous, pontificating,self-aggrandizing huckster.

Maher is occassionally funny but, more often, he's just an abrasive douchebag who likes to gin up the viewers' prejudices to increase the size of the audience (me makes money from that whether the viewers love him or hate him). Why, he's as much of an asswipe as any of DOZENS of Fox's on-air talkingshitheads or the reichwing's phalanx of commentators like Crystal, Will or Cal Thomas. Oh, that danged liberal media!

    1. Democommie, you don't even like your own team? Is there anyone you don't hate? Please, tell someone who has your respect.

    2. Greg, stop baiting democommie. Last warning.

Again I agree with your observation, demo.

    3. Mikeb, are you going to rein him in? You've seen what he writes. I'm not baiting him. I'm responding to his attacks.

  7. Greggie, buddy:

Maher's not on MY TEAM. Try again.

As to who I respect, it's a fairly short list and no, sorry, your names not on it.

    1. Democommie, why don't you write an article about those few individuals. Having your respect is likely a strike against the person, but I am curious to know what on earth anyone could do to gain it.

But you and Maher look like two peas in a pod. He used to be mildly funny. I don't know much about you. What I do know is that both of you have sunk to the level of angry sniping at the whole world.
